Claude Certified Developer — Foundations is the exam for the person writing the code. Where the architecture papers ask how a system should be shaped, CCDV-F asks what you actually send and what you do with what comes back: the Messages API and its stateless conversation, the SDKs and their agent loops, tool definitions and results, MCP servers, prompt caching and the arithmetic of a token bill, and the specific ways a call fails.

That last part is most of the difference. A large share of these items start from a symptom a developer would actually meet — a 400 on a request that worked last month, a cache read pinned at zero, an answer that stops mid-sentence on a successful response — and ask which layer owns it. Knowing the mechanism is what separates the two answers that both look right.

This bank holds 200 questions written against the published CCDV-F blueprint, close to four sittings' worth at 53 items a form, so you can take several before you start meeting items you remember. Each is tagged to a single objective, which is what makes the coverage map and the per-objective report mean anything.

A timed mock draws 53 items in these proportions. Within a domain the draw rotates through the objectives, so every objective contributes before any contributes twice.

The weighting is lopsided in a way the other exams here are not. Applications and Integration alone is 33.1% of a scored form, roughly 17 of the 53 questions, while Eval, Testing, and Debugging is 2.6% and draws 1. Study time is worth spending in about that ratio. The pool underneath is deliberately flatter than the blueprint, so that a thin domain still has enough items to drill properly.

How to use it

  1. 01Sit one timed mock cold. 53 items, 120 minutes, nothing revealed until you submit. The gap between your scaled score and 720 is the only honest reading you will get, and it is worth having before you study rather than after.
  2. 02Read the score report by objective, not by domain. A domain at 70% can hide one objective at zero, and the objective is the thing you can go and drill.
  3. 03Drill the objectives that came back weak, then work the mistakes deck. Anything you miss in any mode lands there, and two clean answers in a row retire an item from it.
  4. 04Sit a second mock when the deck is thin. The form is redrawn from all 200 items and the options are reshuffled, so it is not the same paper twice.

What is the CCDV-F exam?

CCDV-F is the Claude Certified Developer — Foundations certification, Anthropic's exam for people who build on the Claude API. It is proctored through Pearson VUE, runs 120 minutes, passes at 720 on a 100 to 1000 scale, and stays valid for 12 months. Its blueprint covers 8 domains and 25 objectives, weighted heavily toward building and integrating applications.

What does the CCDV-F exam cover?

Writing the code that calls Claude. The 8 domains run from agents and workflows through applications and integration, Claude Code, evaluation and debugging, model selection and optimisation, prompt and context engineering, security, and tools and MCP servers. Applications and Integration is the largest at 33.1%, and a good deal of the paper is diagnostic: a symptom is described and you name the layer that owns it.

How is CCDV-F different from CCAR-F?

They sit at the same level and ask about different work. CCDV-F is the developer paper: the Messages API, SDK behaviour, tool results, caching, cost and error handling, across 8 domains. CCAR-F is the architecture paper, covering agent loops, subagents, MCP and Claude Code configuration across 5. They overlap on tools and on agent design, and they diverge on whether the question is what to build or what to send. Both cost the same and neither is a prerequisite for the other.

How many questions are on the CCDV-F exam?

The published CCDV-F exam guide describes a 53-question form sat in 120 minutes, and the timed mock here matches that shape item for item. Anthropic's certification FAQ publishes the time limit, the pass mark and the price for every exam in the programme but not a per-exam question count, so treat 53 as the guide's figure rather than a promise about your sitting.

How much does the CCDV-F exam cost?

$125 per attempt at list price, with an automatic 50% discount for Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners. That is the same price as the Foundations architecture exam and less than the Professional one. Prices were last checked against Anthropic's own certification FAQ on 13 August 2026.

Who is allowed to sit CCDV-F?

People at organisations in the Claude Partner Network. Registration needs a work email on a recognised partner domain, and a personal address will not complete sign-up. This catches more people out than the syllabus does, so check it before you plan any study.

Is this CCDV-F practice bank free?

Yes. All 200 questions, every practice mode and the whole progress view are free, with no account and nothing held back for a paid tier. Your answers, scores and bookmarks are written to this browser's local storage and are never uploaded.

Where do these CCDV-F questions come from?

They were written for this site against the published CCDV-F exam guide and Anthropic's own developer documentation, one objective at a time, and each was then read back against its sources to check the credited answer still held. None of them is real exam content: sitting an exam commits you to keeping its questions confidential, so any practice set claiming to hold them is telling you something worse about itself than about the exam.

Does CCDV-F practice here mix with the architecture exams?

No. Every exam on this site keeps its own mistakes deck, its own progress and its own coverage, because revising for one while another's items surface in the deck is the opposite of useful. A paused sitting in one exam survives starting a sitting in another. Bookmarks are the single exception: they share one page, in a column per exam, and drilling them is still one exam at a time.
